When you are young, you feel immortal. Nothing can hold you down! I am destined for greatness! I have everything that I need! I will become the soaring eagle. After all, I'm doing all of these not for myself, but for the glory of the Lord. So that when people see how great I am, He will be glorified.
You always encourage yourself. Push yourself to the limit. Because, hey, you will become the next Bill Gates/Mother Teresa/Gandhi etc, right? You know it, the Lord told you so just like He told Abraham. You have vision & mission & surely the Lord approve them.
Sadly, most of the people living today regard themselves as such. They refuse to be ordinary, mediocre & unknown. As time goes by, what do you know: very-very-very few people can be Bill Gates, Mother Teresa & Gandhi who receive all the attention. Where are the others?
Huh. They're just not trying hard enough. Scram it.
I won't say that this ambitious mindset is wrong. I can't judge anyone, I shouldn't judge anyone. I'm nothing, none, just a human being passing and contemplating on life, gaining all kind of understanding based on experiences given. Two small eyes, bit slanted, not even 20/20. That's how poor I can clearly see your lovely intention.
One thing for sure though. You are given talents from God. You have to make use of it, laziness isn't an excuse, it's a sin. The point is: People think in science-term - if you put such and such works, you will get such and such results. I hardly believe that. I believe more in separating the works from the results.
When you work, you will glorify God no matter what the result will be. Sometimes it is good, another time it is disastrous. When that happened, you don't have to worry so much, because deep inside you know you have done your best.
So now, back to "greatness". Have I define what is greatness? How sure are you that you have separated your ego of wanting to be praised & just simply do it because it is right?

Loneliness is inability to share our hearts
I saw people, they're breathing
They're walking, they're smiling, they're saying "How are you?"
I breathed hard, I walked, I smiled, I said back "I'm fine, how about you?"
They smiled back, they went to their corners.
Thus they were gone for the day. The ghosts of living human beings. They're around me. They're around me.
I'm not sure they're there. I don't know them.

What is courage? And what is the difference between courage & downright reckless stupidity masking as courage?
It may be a very thin line. Only wise men know where to put their feet when it's necessary. Open mouth when it's wise & needed. Close it when not. (Too much noises already in the world. Do we need more distractions?)
The world loved status quo, even when it's bad for their own good. When challenged by the prophets, defense mode turned on. Kill the prophets! Only after the prophets dead then they realize that changes need to be made. Thus even though everyone kinda sense that something really need to be done, they keep quiet to save their own lives.
Why was Jesus rejected by his hometown? Because he was a humble carpenter, not exactly the glorified imagination of a savior should be.
Why would we reject some leaders? Because we tend to love the dramatized version of leaders, especially the charisma part.
Heed this: great leaders are the one who produce generations of great leaders to continue the vision. Companies & organizations often failed because when the charismatic leader left, they forgot the original vision & purpose.
