    Collateral: the lesson

My, my. Collateral is one of the best action film I have ever seen in years! Very good & interesting story, excellent acting, amazing editing & sound effect, and yea, Tom Cruise is still handsome, of course :D

What I will always remember from this movie is when Jamie Fox stopped the cursed cab for a stranded wolf crossing the street (WTH is a wolf doing in LA?). That is a magnificent scene. It is like telling the awed cold-blooded killer: "Hey, I may not know enough about Rwanda to care about them, but I'm doing the best I can to exercise my compassion." And the haunting song (in which title I don't know yet) started playing. Very memorable.

After all that, I started wondering about Tom Cruise character, his indifference. From Google define:indifference I got this definition:
emotionlessness: apathy demonstrated by an absence of emotional reactions
    * www.cogsci.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/webwn

Emotionlessness? Absence of emotional reactions? Is it really that way? What kind of human doesn't have emotions? Again, with my hobby to define my own understanding aside from everyone else, I stated one agreeable fact with myself. The fact is that every healthy living human being must have emotions. Indifference isn't an absence of emotions, it is some type of emotion. It is neither happy or sad, shows no compassion nor hatred. Yet, it is still considered an emotion due to the reactions it produces. For example If you're happy, your reaction is laughing; if you're sad, your reaction is crying. If you're indifferent? Your reaction is apathy, in which I consider it a reaction because time flies and you make the choice of doing nothing.

A little bit unfair, the unwritten law of the world is

You know what, no one has told our stories
Only the bold & the beautiful have their stories
The remaining members are supporting casts till they die

Why is it? If we don't live in palace it's like we don't exist at all
only kings & queens are worthy enough to be discussed
The laypeople are listed only in birth & death certificates

Why is it? Even if we're the one doing all the hardworks
The one who are being remembered are presidents & generals
the soldiers, well, nobody care enough

    I want to live

Sometimes I ask what's the real meaning of survivor

Then just once, the survival instinct came overpowering me

    Just the thoughts, however
    came flooding
    how to describe them?
    probably like this:

I want to live even though a terrible circumstance may hit me
I want to live even though I have nobody besides me
I want to live in the end to see it all over, until the air despise my lung
and my heart has forgotton how to beat

I want to live even I don't have any faith, love, heart & words to come out
I want to live even though I don't have anything worth living
And more than anything, I want to see me living like that
So that it will come to a point where I have no regret being alive

Because feeling alive is the core thing for survivors
Otherwise He won't allow your existence in the first place

    Nice thought from Hilda

Taken from: Entry Feb 17th, 2005. She is my middle-school friend.

The world is full with different people. Never boring. Never ending story. I've met people who make a financial plan for the future. But I've also met people who are "go-with-the-flow type", make no financial plan, spend money shopping clothes excessively. They hardly have significant savings and/or investments.

Jeffrey said, The "go-with-the-flow" type of person is usually a person with no vision of his life. He doesn't know his purpose or goal in life. He will find it difficult to reach his dreams and get what he wants. He will be easily affected and moved when the environment changes and obstacle comes. But a person with a vision will stand firm, keep the focus on, push forward, and hear no evil.

I think this is one of the problems faced by many youngsters, fresh-graduates, young professionals below 30 years-old. One friend told me that she has no savings for her marriage, etc. She buys whatever, eats wherever (Girls, fashion are bad investments.) She enjoys her life to her fullest now. What about later? Will she be responsible later (after marriage) if she is not now?
What about the man, do they spend money on gadgets unwisely? Do they plan their futures well enough? What would he be 10 years from now?

Im not offending anyone right now; it's just that I'm wondering why certain people can be ignorant about the future? How can they be thoughtless about their own future? How can they not wanting to know about how to do them a favor?

One of the blockages is the lack of knowledge. Lack of knowledge might be caused by lack of reading book, news, etc, regardless the keen on reading. There are people who like to read only novels, comics, wasted-magazines, and never go anywhere afterwards. You are WHAT you READ. YOUR word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105, NIV). Do you daily read the Divine Life Manual Book?

Another blockage is the wrong circle of friends. Jeffrey always says that to discover one's future can be seen from the friends one hangs out with. "Show me your friends, and I'll show you your future", he says. You are your FRIENDS. If you hang out with shopping-freaks, you'll be a shopping-freak. If you hang out with gamblers, you'll be a gambler. If you hang out with wise men, you'll be a wise man. So, surround yourself with the right people. As the Proverbs also say, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."(Proverbs 27:17, NIV)

What would you do now if you are in the wrong circle of friends?
Would you sacrifice you bright future with the so-called friends?
Do yourself a favor. DO THE RIGHT THING.
