Definitions of lobotomy on the Web:
surgical interruption of nerve tracts to and from the frontal lobe of the brain; often results in marked cognitive and personality changes
I don't exactly know what this means, but it's a very interesting idea if we can change our personality by surgical procedure.
We already can change our physical appearance by doing cosmetic surgery. And the trends in TV these days (Extreme Makeover, The Swan, etc etc) have everything to do with changing your face, butt, and everything in between.
The trends in drama movies these days (50 first dates, the notebook, paycheck, eternal sunshine, etc etc) - about human memories and brain limitation - indicating that the world is curious whether there is a possibility that we could alter our experiences and memories. We want to erase our embarassing mistakes and keep the good things in our brains.
Now, back to lobotomy, if you don't like being shy and so introvert, you can have a lobotomy and change your personality, so when you take a Myers-Briggs personality test, you get ESFP instead of INFJ. Because, hey, everybody loves an extrovert.
If you cannot change the world, you can change yourself. Start with the body first.
